Letting go of the critic
It takes practice
Hey there,
In this edition:
How I’ve made progress letting go of shame
Different format for a couple of weeks
Inner Work Mastery
I am afraid.
Mainly about being seen.
But I’m learning to do it anyway.
And the criticism is mostly within me.
I’m launching Inner Work Mastery this week.
You’ll receive emails from me over the next few days.
I’m choosing to share my 25 years of deep work with you.

“You gotta learn to be your own best friend.”
Dr. Bob Beare
The new course is personally vulnerable and integrates all my years of recovery and trauma healing.
I have to transcend my fear to put these courses together.
Then another form of fear to share the work openly.
I have thousands of followers all over the world.
The criticism is almost non-existent.
I’m repeatedly amazed at this.
I’m a professional actor, and have always focused on that one guy who is dozing off in the audience. I’m trying mightily to change that pattern.
I find that the random nay-sayer is usually wounded and looking for someone to blame.
The other thousands are wildly complimentary and getting much-needed healing from the work.
I’ll bet you can apply this to your own life. Our unhealed wounds blur our view of reality. People are waiting for your unique gifts. Your authentic expressions are valuable to others, and they are to be shared. And it’s ok to have fun doing it.
It Goes By Many Names
So, the popular description of this is “impostor syndrome.”
But, I’ve come to understand that it is shame. We collect shame from trauma (adverse situations) and complex trauma (trauma that happens as a result of unhealed original trauma).
These experiences skew the way we see ourselves and the world.
I’ve done a lot of work on myself, and I’m sharing the process with you to help you break that pattern.
I’ve stopped trying to please my original caregivers and most everyone else. As a kid, I learned to hide certain aspects of my authenticity. Then, I hid myself from the rest of the world.
My bliss is in healing work and creativity—no more hiding.
I’m working with a guy who is a former college football star and Army Ranger. You can excel greatly in these environments if you bury all emotions and become what “they” need you to be. He told me that he hid out emotionally because he was relentlessly criticized as a kid. But now, as a dad, coach, and successful business guy doing a lot of inner work, he came to these conclusions:
Walk into every situation fresh, without apology, as if they don’t know how much shame and fear you have - because they don’t!
Life happens in this moment. Be in it. Be real.
Feeling deeply is required.
I would add:
You have to learn to be your own best friend.
Do what you love with enthusiasm - it’s contagious.
They’re not that focused on you. They’re paying attention to themselves.
It’s time to stop apologizing and share ourselves with the world.
If you haven’t noticed, many people are in pain in this world. If a wound remains unhealed, it causes others pain. We pass it along.
So, we need to start passing along our healing and gifts instead.
Over the years, many loving and gifted healers and visionaries have given me the tools for growth, and I’ve put them together for you.
I want to help you learn to stop hiding and live this life passionately and confidently.
The program is called Inner Work Mastery. It launches tomorrow, and you'll receive a big discount if you get it within the next couple of days.
Thanks for your support. I hope you enjoy and grow.
Please let me know how it goes.
With much warmth,
Bob
